Subject	ECU solenoid not hooked up, wire missing

Message	Hi everyone, I've now identified the connecter in my engine bay without a wire going to it as the EGR solenoid. I do not see a disconnected wire that should plug into the connector on the solenoid. What effect would this not being hooked up have on my engine? Is it harmful at all? Do I need to have it hooked up? Thanks for any and all input.
